Altar Servers

The Altar server's ministry is a unique one in the Orthodox Church. Other than priests and deacons, no one else is allowed to enter the Holy of Holies and to be so close to the Holy Altar. Altar servers serve not because it is nice to be in the Altar but because above all they feel a personal calling to service. An Altar server must be willing to become very familiar with the Liturgy and must understand why the Liturgy is important, and what happens during Liturgy.
